Historically used for both rubble stone walling (moellons) and finely dressed quoins, it pairs harmoniously with steep roofs covered in traditional limestone lauzes or flat terracotta tiles.

Petrographic & Geological Characteristics

Warm golden ferric limestone (Cretaceous Campanian), coarse cellular grain, rich ochre hue.

Lime Mortar & Breathability Compatibility

Strictly breathable aerial lime (CL90) mortar blended with local yellow river sand for authentic regional joints.

Provenance & Historical Sourcing

Dordogne river basin quarries.

Condition Report & Patina

Traditionally laid with warm sand and hydraulic lime mortar.
